The government had ordered the inquiry following allegations that a private firm, tasked to ensure proper maintenance of low-floor buses at Rajghat bus depot, was given undue benefit to the tune of around Rs 1.5 crore.

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami has instructed Managing Director of Delhi Transport Corporation Rajiv Verma to take necessary action against the erring officials.

Verma said the officials found guilty in the probe have been issued show cause notices.

"Appropriate and strict action against the officials concerned would be taken based on findings of the departmental inquiry," a senior officer said.

He said the private firm was not penalised the amount for failing to ensure proper maintenance of the buses during April and October last year though the contract with it clearly stated the amount of daily penalty.
