Punjab beat Universities 5-1 in women's hockey Nationals

In a Pool D match, Punjab defeated Indian Universities 5-1 with skipper Amandeep Kaur finding the target twice while her team-mates Ramanjeet Kaur, Sangeeta Minz and Sadhna chipped in with a goal apiece.

Indian Universities lone reply came from Narinder Kaur.

In Pool F, Jharkhand hammered Assam 32-0 with Binita Xess scoring six times followed by Anila (five goals), Sushila Lakra (three goals), Swati Herenj (three), Shilwanti Minjur (two), Laurencia Kerketta (two), Shabnam Lakra (two), Dibya Kerketta (two), Punam M Tete (two), Anima Minz (two), Etwari Mundu (two) and Sarita Lakra (one).

Uttar Pradesh mauled Tripura 17-0 in their opening match of Pool H with the maximum six goals score by Kavita Mourya. Prathiba Chaudhary (four), Deepika Sharma (four), Shrishti Singh (two) and Reetu Singh (one) are the other goal scorers for Uttar Pradesh.

Manipur started their campaign on a winning note in Pool B as they defeated Andhra Pradesh 8-0. Manipur, who led 4-0 at the half time, scored through Monoroma Devi Asem (two), Ibemhal M C Sangai (two), Ranjita Devi Thockchom (two), Pinky Devi Thockchom (two) and Loibi Chanu (one).

In another match in Pool H, Delhi beat Bengal 5-1 with Sangeeta Singh and Sneh scoring two goals apiece followed by Jyoti (one) while Meenu Khatun scored the only goal for Bengal. MORE
