The decomposed body of a Congress activist was today recovered from a parked car in Mohali's Sector 69, police said.
Police have registered a murder case against unknown persons and rounded up three after the body of Rajwant Singh Shergill was recovered this morning.
The white SUV of Shergill was parked near a park in Sector 69 and somebody noticed blood coming out of it and informed police.
A PCR team reached the spot and recovered the body, with the hands tied with a rope and throat slit, police said. The body was identified as that of Shergill from the driving licence found in his wallet.
Shergill's younger brother, Kulwant Singh Shergill, told police that Shergill had left the house on May 18 for Delhi. He was to return on May 22.
Kulwant said they did not lodge any missing complaint even after their phone calls went unanswered, because Shergill used to go to Delhi on regular basis.
"Though our calls went unanswered, it did not raise doubts in our minds.... We were informed by the police on Wednesday morning about the incident," Kulwant said.
Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Gursharan Singh Sandhu said they were looking into the case from different angles, but refused to divulge details of investigation.
