Punjab crushing Surat Singh's right to protest: Khalsa
Press Trust of India Amritsar Radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa today attacked Punjab government for it's alleged crackdown on Surat Singh, who is on fast unto death since January 16 seeking the release of prisoners who have completed their prison term.
In a statement here, party head H S Dhami said, "The state has violated and crushed his right to protest."
Questioning police version, he said,"How come a person of 83-year-old, who is on hunger strike from last 42 days and held captive illegally at civil hospital in Ludhiana since February 8, becomes threat to peace."
He alleged that police is terrorising relatives of Surat Singh.
Referring to the media interaction of DGP S S Saini recently on prisoners issues, Dhami alleged that Punjab was still a police state where writ of police runs unabatedly.
