Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Arora deputed Vibhu Raj, Inspector General of Police/EOW, Crime, who will put-up a daily report about sensitive/important crime cases against women to him and other senior officers, an official spokesperson said.
She will be assisted by Sanmeet Kaur, AIG (Crime).
"The DGP has directed the Nodal Officer to personally monitor all important cases of crime against women and ensure that due sensitivity is shown while handling the victims, and ensure proper probe in a time bound manner, under the supervision of concerned CPs/SSPs," the spokesperson said.
Arora has asked the nodal officer to devise a robust mechanism for monitoring, which may include holding meetings, submission of reports, interacting with the victims and other suitable measures.
The Nodal Officer would also keep the field officers apprised of the latest legislation and court judgments relating to crime against women through monthly advisories, the spokesperson added.
