Punjab govt launches delivery of election related services

Punjab government today launched delivery of election related services in the state, enabling voters to get new and duplicate electronic photo identity cards.
State Chief Electoral Officer V K Singh while launching the service at Gram Suwidha Kendra of village Tiurh in Mohali district, said the service has been initiated in 20 Common Service Centers as a pilot project in Kharar, Dera Bassi and Majri blocks of Mohali.
This is unique facility, which will enable voters to get new and duplicate electronic photo identity card, making any addition, deletion and modification in the electoral roles and transposition, he said.
Singh said the process would completely curb the chances of any forgery as the whole process would be online free from any difficulty and in transparent manner.
After the successful completion of this pilot project, the services would be extended to other districts of the state, he said.
Singh informed that more than 2,112 Gram Suwidha Kendras had been successfully established under Common Service Centre Mission Mode Project of National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in Punjab.
He said these Kendras were providing various Government-to-Citizen and Business-to-Citizen services to rural citizens.
