Concerned over delay in timely promotions of officers, Punjab government today asked all its departments to submit complete information regarding the promotions in the state.
The government directed all the Heads of Department and Administrative Secretaries to submit the information.
"It had come to the notice of the government that various departments were not holding the meetings of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) to decide the promotional cases of the officials and officers whenever they become due for promotion," a spokesperson said.
The delay in timely promotion to official/officers creates many administrative and legal problems for the government, he said, adding due to this reason many deserving officials/officers are devoid of promotions.
The spokesperson further said that all the departments have been told to give information regarding pending DPC meetings, reasons for pendency of these meetings and the date on which the last DPC meeting was held.
Meanwhile, the government issued an order to relieve Iqbal Singh Sidhu, IAS (Retd), Commissioner, Right to Service Commission, Punjab from his duties.
An official spokesperson said that Sidhu, Commissioner, Right to Service Commission, Punjab has been relieved from his duties on attaining the age of 65 years as per the terms of Section 15(1) of the Right to Service Act, 2011.
