Punjab govt to make Siswan forest area as eco-tourism hub
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Punjab Government today approved a plan to make 'Siswan' and surrounding forest areas located on foothills of Shivalik range on the outskirts of Chandigarh as a hub of Eco-tourism.
An official spokesperson said the project to be set up on PPP mode is envisaged on the multiple sites in the forest area measuring 12.5 acre, including 6.5 kilometre trek from irrigation guest house at the Siswan dam to the Mirzapur forest rest house.
The project envisages the creation of cafeteria, water sports, eco-huts, nature trail/trek and also recreational and entertainment activities such as kids play corner, bird watching and rappelling (climbing skill).
He said the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board through Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB), the nodal agency of the state government to develop infrastructural projects on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, has devised a comprehensive plan to develop an eco- tourism project at Siswan in Mohali.
