Punjab govt working on improvement of education standard

Punjab government is constantly upgrading the standard of government schools in the state, state Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka today said.
Syllabus of schools is being changed to incorporate new subjects with the view to equip students with modern education system, he said.
A unique "Udaan Project" based on general knowledge has been initiated to impart training to students of class IV to XII, studying in government schools, Maluka said.
Under this project, which was started in Sangrur district last year, students and teachers are trained to participate in competitions and students can opt for optional examination of general knowledge after six months, which will be taken from questions already sent to the schools, the Minister said.
The Education department is fully geared up to conduct Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) on May 26, in which more than 5 lakh students are expected to appear.
