Punjab, Haryana & MPHA reach quarterfinals

Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy reached the quarterfinals with emphatic victories in their concluding league matches of the 3rd Hockey India Senior Women National Championship today.
Punjab easily defeated Delhi 7-0 in their concluding league match with goals from Sadhna Singh (2, 18, 39 min), Monika (5 min), Gurwant (54 min), Sukhjeet (56 min) and Lalremruati (66 min).
Four goals by Narinder helped star-studded Haryana enter the quarterfinals as they blanked Mumbai Hockey Association Limited 10-0 in their Pool B league match, at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in the Guru Govind Singh Sports College.
Goal scorers for Haryana were Narinder (11, 23, 55, 64 min), Harpreet Kaur (1, 34 min), Udita (19, 35 min) and Bharti (41, 51 min).
Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA) also booked their berth in last eight, defeating Bihar 8-0 in a Pool D tie.
Scorers for MPHA were Shivani (33, 34, 42 minutes), Preeti (24, 41 min), Reena Khokhar (6 min), Neha (35 min) and Rakhi (52 min).

In Pool F, Chandigarh beat Gujarat 18-0.
Meanwhile, in the Junior Women National Championship, Hockey Maharashtra hammered Andhra Pradesh 7-1 in their Pool D League match played at the Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi today.
Earlier, Delhi breezed past Kerala 8-0 in their Pool H league match to book their berth for the quarterfinals.
