Punjab modifies policies for Medicity, IT projects
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Punjab government today said it has modified its 'Medicity' policy regarding allotment of land or plots for setting up multi-speciality hospitals, medical university or colleges-cum-hospitals and medical research centres in the New Chandigarh.
The government has also amended its policy on Information and Technology to set up IT services, ITES bio-technology and research and development (R&D) facilities in the tech-zone of SAS Nagar.
According to an official spokesman, the detailed policy in this regard had been approved by Punjab Cabinet to give a fillip to business ventures in Medicity and IT City under the "Invest Punjab" initiatives.
Medicity will be country's one of the largest places for bio-technology and healthcare solutions.
The spokesperson said more than 260 acres of land has been earmarked for this purpose in New Chandigarh (Mullanpur) where 100 acres would be utilised for setting up of world class multi-speciality hospitals, medical university/medical college cum hospital and medical research centre.
