Punjab sets up advisory panel for freedom struggle memorial

The Punjab government today constituted a panel for giving recommendations on construction of a state-of-the-art memorial showcasing contribution of Punjab in country's freedom struggle.
A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a a meeting of the Jang-e-Azadi Memorial Foundation here, an official spokesman said.
The 10-member panel headed by member secretary of the foundation Barjinder Singh Hamdar will finalise the modalities for hiring services of reputed architect for construction of the memorial.
Apart from Barjinder, the panel will include Health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal, senior BJP minister Balram Dass Tandon, Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder and former minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan, among others.
Badal also gave his in-principle nod to a proposal of making a feature-cum-documentary film on Indian freedom struggle and organising a laser show to highlight its various watershed movements.
