The proposal would soon be finalised to eliminate hurdles in performing last rites by members of the Muslim community, Badal said while participating in an Eid-Ul-Fitr party here in Idgah.
The survey to identify villages with Muslim-majority population and earmarking Panchayat land in those villages was at an advanced stage and the state government would approve the policy as soon as it was completed, he said.
Badal also announced that the government was planning to construct houses and a school for poor Muslim families at Bathinda.
"Special insurance cards would be distributed among beneficiaries and the process would be over within a couple of months," Badal added.
