The Punjab government will soon launch an online building plan approvals system to eliminate corruption and reduce human interface with the department.
The system will initially be rolled out in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Moga, Bathinda, Phagwara, and Pathankot, state local government minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said today.
It will enable architects to submit their building plans including drawings and supporting documents through electronic mode for approval and will also enable online payments of requisite fee.
"There will be a minimum human interface with the launch of online system of building plan. With the new system being put in place, people will be able to get the maps of their houses at their homes itself and shall be spared the ordeal of making rounds of the offices for getting their work done," Sidhu said.
Four companies, including TCS and Tech Mahindra, are providing technical assistance in implementing the system, he said.
"Work of the companies will be thoroughly monitored and after few months, two companies shall be given the job of implementing the project throughout the state based on their performance," Sidhu said.
