Punjab vigilance books Viticulture council chief

Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case against V S Chimni, CEO, Viticulture Council of the state for alleged irregular diversion of Rs 4 crore to the Punjab Council for Citrus and Agri-Juicing (CCAJ).
The "irregular diversion" was made for paying off land lease overdue to the farmers without obtaining necessary approval from the competent authority.
"In this regard, a criminal case has been registered at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Flying Squad-I at Mohali," said Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab.
After finding the veracity of facts on record, vigilance has registered this case which is under further investigation.
