Punjabi folk singer killed in road mishap

Noted Punjabi folk singer Sukhraj Aujla was killed and his wife sustained serious injuries when the car they were travelling in rammed into a tree near Kala Afgana village here today, police said.
The mishap took place on the Batala-Fatehgarh Churian road when Sukhraj (45) and his wife Ranjit Kaur were returning to their native Aujla village from their in-laws house, DSP Fatehgarh Churian Kirpal Singh said.
Both of them were admitted to Escorts Hospital in Amritsar where the singer succumbed to his injuries.
Sukhraj Aujla and his brother Anokh Aujla, popularly known as Aujla brothers, had performed in the different parts of the country and abroad.
