Delhi Government today sealed two ultrasound machines of a private hospital in Rajouri Garden after receiving complaints of illegal sex determination tests done there.
According to a senior official, a team of the health department officials conducted a surprise check after Health Minister, Satyendra Jain received a complaint about illegal sex determination being done there.
"A five-member team inspected the records of Kukreja Hospital, Rajouri Garden, in presence of the SDM and found records were not being properly maintained," official release by Delhi Government said.
Officials said it was found during checking that mandatory sections of Forms F, which are required to be filled under the PNDT (Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act, before conducting tests of pregnant women, were left blank.
"Even the names of doctors who referred patients for getting ultra sounds were found missing from the forms," release said.
The team conducted the check and submitted its report to the Health Minister.
Jain has directed the authorities to initiate action against the hospital, including suspension of its license and imposition of a hefty fine under relevant provisions of the PNDT Act.
The Minister has directed officials of the health ministry to intensify surprise checks across the national capital and crack down on such illegal activities in hospitals, nursing homes and laboratories.
