PWD asks for Rs 600 cr for CCTVs in upcoming Delhi Budget

The Public Works Department of the Delhi government has asked for Rs 600 crore for installation of CCTV cameras and Rs 150 crore for lightening dark spots across the city in the upcoming Budget.
The Delhi government is likely to table its 2016-17 Budget in the Assembly on March 27. The Budget Session will be held from March 22 to 31.
Today, various departments held budget consultations with concerned ministers at the Delhi Secretariat.
"During the budget consultation, PWD officers demanded that the government allocate Rs 600 crore for installation of CCTV cameras across the national capital.
"Besides, the department also asked for Rs 150 crore in the upcoming budget for lightening dark spots in various parts of the city," a senior government official said.
The House will sit only for five days as a number of holidays fall during the Budget Session.

The session is unlikely to have a heavy legislative agenda.
Priority would be given to education, health and transport sectors, with the government set to spend 25 per cent of budget on education. It will also set aside funds for buying new buses.
Besides, the government will provide funds for 3,000 mohalla sabhas where locals will have a say in deciding civic projects in their areas.
