PWD, CPWD engineers protest on restructuring of organisation
Press Trust of India New Delhi Engineers of Delhi PWD and CPWD here today staged a mass protest rally outside the Delhi Secretariat against the recent restructuring of Delhi Public Works Department and sought withdrawal of the order.
The employees said they were protesting creation of two Engineer-in-Chief posts unheard of in any government department, assigning of current duty charge in large scale bypassing all rules and seniority and posting of PWD engineers in District Urban Development Agency among other issues.
In a release, engineers said that after the rally, they have submitted a memorandum to PWD minister Satyendra Kumar Jain seeking to withdraw the orders issued on August 12 and to take action against those responsible for such major upheaval.
It said if the turmoil created in name of restructuring is not settled, all crucial development works are bound to suffer badly as the engineers do not want to put the safety of public at risk by engaging themselves in totally unfamiliar fields for which they are being forced now.
