The public works department of the Delhi government has decided to carry out resurfacing of roads and improve footpaths in the area from Lal Jain Mandir to Fatepuri Mosque in congested Chandni Chowk area.
The department has approved an estimated cost of around 2.46 crore to execute the project whose tender will be floated soon, a move intended to beautify the area of old Delhi.
An official said the area engineer has been directed to submit the monitoring report every month once the execution of project is started.
"The department has given approval to the resurfacing of road and improvement of foothpath of Chandni Chowk road from Lal Jain Mandir to Fathepuri Mosque for an estimated cost of Rs 2,46,69,700," the official said.
The road stretch from Lal Jain Mandir to Fatepuri Mosque houses shops which witness large footfall of shoppers.
