The former daughter-in-law of ex world billiard champion Michael Ferreira has been arrested in connection with the alleged Rs 425-crore financial fraud involving Hong Kong-based multi-level marketing company QNet, police said.
"Susan Chatterjee (46), who is who is the ex-daughter-in-law of former billiard champion Michael Ferreira, has been arrested for her role in the QNet fraud," said Additional Police Commissioner (EOW) Rajvardhan Sinha.
According to EOW police, Chatterjee was arrested yesterday and about Rs 1.70 crore which has been earned through QNet scheme was discovered in her bank account.
Chatterjee has been remanded to police custody till September 16 by a court, police said.
According to sources, she was on the EOW scanner since the last few months after the role of Michael Ferreira was disclosed in investigations.
"During the interrogation, though Chatterjee has denied her role in any way in the controversial QNet scheme, she has been paid crores of rupees in commissions which indicate that this is nothing but a product-based pyramid scheme and the commissions paid are actually because of the recruitment done regularly," police said.
