Mangle, who beat another qualifier from Pune Sujan Parab in the first round, overcame Khandge 4-1, 4-2 and set up a quarter-final clash with top seed Siddhant Bhavnani who led the other seeds into the last eight.
Matches are played as per the short sets format. Among those joining Bhavnani in the next round were second seed K S Vishisht Raam of Tamil Nadu and third seed Rayyan Sayyed of Nashik.
Parwani surprisingly dropped the opening set as she struggled to find the form that earned her a top billing. Shetty battled on but lost the second set in a tight finish before Parwani sealed the match in the decider following a crucial advantage.
Fifth seed Avyakta Thorat also survived a threat from unseeded Smita Walhekar before snatching an exciting 5-3, 5-3 win in an all-Pune contest.
