Qualifier Sharma sends seeded Soni crashing out
Press Trust of India Mumbai Qualifier Aryan Sharma shocked error-prone fifth seed Aryan Soni in an all-Maharashtra clash at the Parsram J Vazirani Memorial All India Junior Open Talent Series tennis tournament for U-12 boys and girls today.
Mumbai boy Sharma raced to a 4-0 4-1 win in the first round to set up a clash against Hrushikesh Vaidya, who prevailed over Rohan Ravi in another all-Maharashtra match 4-2 4-2.
Matches were played in the short sets format at the Vazirani National Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
Among the girls, qualifier Rochana Gopalakrishna of Tamil Nadu advanced to the second round following a convincing 4-0 4-1 win over unseeded Ila Dadhe of Pune.
