The baby's parents, who were in inebriated condition, had come to the hospital to admit him last night, a child specialist in the hospital, Dr Punit Galhotra said.
"I hesitated first to admit the baby as the parents were drunkard. However, seeing the baby in critical condition, I admitted him on humanitarian grounds," he said.
The couple, who are from Garshanker, had a scuffle with each other this morning and left the baby unattended in the hospital in a huff.
The doctors informed the police, but the parents later returned in the afternoon and took away the baby with them.
