Queen's husband works as hard as younger British royals

UK's Prince Philip, the 94-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has not cut down his workload much with age, undertaking more official engagements in 2015 than the younger generation of royals put together.
The Duke of Edinburgh carried out 217 engagements at home, while the Queen carried out 306, according to a media report.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate, and Prince Harry had 198 engagements between them.
"Philip still has extraordinary energy, remains fascinated by innovation and continues, in his unique and idiosyncratic way, to provide the Queen and the monarchy with invaluable support," Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal commentator, told The Times.

Of the younger royals, William was the busiest, carrying out 87 engagements in Britain, followed by his wife with 62 and brother with 49.
William has a day job as a helicopter rescue pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance service.

Harry left the army half-way through the year and spent six weeks in the summer working on a series of conservation projects in Africa.
The figures, compiled by Tim O'Donovan, a 'Times' reader, show that Prince Philip carried out 33 overseas engagements.
William had 35 and Harry 59.
Kate, who wants to concentrate on being a wife and mother, did not carry out any overseas jobs so she had the lightest workload. She carried out 91 engagements in 2014 and 111 the previous year.

The Queen, who turns 90 in April, had a busy year with 306 engagements.
O'Donovan, who compiles the figures every year based on engagements announced in the Court Circular, said the number carried out by the Queen was remarkable.
"Except for Christmas Day and Easter Day, the Queen never has a day off from the official red boxes which pursue her everywhere," he told the newspaper.
