The issue was raised during the question hour by BJP member Satish Mahana, who alleged that the state government was "insensitive" in dealing with illegal slaughter of cows and other animals.
He also said that organised gangs were operating in this connection.
Replying to him, Animal Husbandry Minister Rajkishore Singh said, "Our government is serious in dealing with illegal slaughter. In past few months 2,032 FIR were registered, 3,512 persons were named and 22,514 animals were rescued by separate teams of the department."
"The licencing authority of slaughter houses is Centre.. There is your Prime Minister. If he passed order for their closure, I will ensure its implementation in the state," he said.

He further said, "The way in which the member (Mahana) was describing the modus operandi of the gang, it seems that it was their (BJP) gang which is involved in slaughter".
Unsatisfied with the reply, BJP members jumped into the well demanding a "proper" answer by the minister.
Later, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohd Azam Khan too joined the debate and demanded from the Centre an immediate ban on export of meat from the country.
"Meat of cow is available in five-star hotels. It should be banned everywhere," he added.
Raising the issue of Muzaffarnagar riots, Khan attacked BJP and said that the "country was paying the price of whatever happened in Saharanpur, Kanth, and Muzaffarnagar" and that he could "see shame on face of Mahana for this."
Objecting to Khan's comments, BJP Legislative party leader Suresh Kumar Khanna said, "Whenever any question is raised, the minister rakes up Muzaffarnagar (riots) issue. This is not fair. You keep on doing this and our votes will only increase," he said.
On meat export, Khanna assured that Centre would ban its export and requested the Speaker to ask the minister (Singh) to take back his words that "our gang" is involved in slaughter.
After the war of words between BJP and SP, BJP members jumped into the well of the House, raising slogans "Gau hatya ban karo" (Stop cow slaughter), following which Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey adjourned the entire question hour.
