A central government team will begin a three-day visit of Maharashtra tomorrow to assess damage to rabi crop due to the drought.
The team will submit its report to the Centre, which is then expected to take a call on the state government's additional memorandum of Rs 2,251 crore of Central assistance for rabi season and Rs 2,071 crore for supplementary kharif damage in addition to the earlier approved relief of Rs 3,049 crore, a senior official told PTI.
The team, comprising eight officials, will tour drought- affected areas in Vidarbha and Marathwada and assess damage to rabi crops like gram, wheat and jowar, the official said.
