Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today launched radio-taxi service for the Taj city and also inaugurated the renovated Rudra Kund at Jatipura in Mathura district.
Yadav, during an event in Mathura today, introduced a fleet of 10 radio-taxis configured with hi-tech Global Positioning System (GPS), besides other features, which will ply on Agra streets.
The rental on the taxis, according to the transport department, will be charged at a minimum of Rs 50 for first two kilometres and thereafter Rs 20 for every kilometre travelled.
Yadav also inaugurated the Rudra Kund (Vat) at Jatipura village in Goverdhan tehsil of Mathura where he announced a slew of development projects for the Braj area.
"We have architecturally created the re-union of 'Hari' and 'Har', where (Lord) Shiva in the form of Kund and (Lord) Krishna in the form of water will unite," said Vineet Narain of The Braj Foundation, which initiated the renovation work.
A contingent of ascetics from Varanasi among others had arrived here yesterday to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Kund, which was being renovated for the past two and a half year.
