RAF personnel deployed in Mangaluru as precautionary step

Police have deployed a company of Rapid Action Force personnel in the city to ensure security to people ahead of religious festivals and political programmes in the coming days.
Police said a company of RAF comprising 135 personnel had been deployed.
The step was taken in view of various programmes planned by political parties and religious festivals, they sources said.
BJP's youth wing Yuva Morcha has planned a motorcycle rally 'Mangaluru Chalo' from different districts which would reach the city on September 7 against the government's 'failure' to contain what it called "fundamentalist" outfits like SDPI and PFI.
Around 10,000 BJP activists are expected to take part in the rally.
