Asked about Rahul Gandhi's readiness to play a more proactive role in the party and the Government, the AICC General Secretary, considered close to the Gandhi family, told PTI here: "He is giving us leadership".
On what Rahul's larger role meant for the Congress, Fernandes said: "It means everything for us".
Earlier this week, Rahul said: "I will play a more proactive role in the party and the government. The decision has been taken, the timing is up to my two bosses -- the Congress President and the Prime Minister".
Meanwhile, Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily said Rahul has to take a "decisive role".
Moily, a former Karnataka Chief Minister, told reporters here that Rahul has had an "enough innings" in the party and he has ignited the spirit and passion among the youth of the country.
"And the entire nation wants him to take a more proactive role so that he can be either in the Government or in the organisation. He has to take a decisive role so that the aspirations, particularly of the youth, can be responded to".
