"I reiterate it several times that laying railway lines and building airports alone will not pull the poor out of poverty...For this we have brought big schemes - first MNREGS and now food security scheme....," he said.
Terming food security scheme as a revolutionary step, he said the poor will get foodgrains every month at highly subsidised rates.
"This is a revolutionary step, which would change the face of the country," he said.
"For thousands of years people used to sleep hungry. Now this will not happen...Earlier there was slogan that we will eat 'half roti', now it has become 'puri roti khayenge' (we will eat full roti)," he said.

Regretting that he could not devote as much time as required to his constituency, Rahul said after becoming Vice President of Congress he had to travel to many places, but once a month he tried to come here.
