Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit West Bengal within March to kick off the party's campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"It has been proposed by the state leadership that Rahul Gandhi should visit West Bengal in March. The dates have not being finalised yet. It is still in the discussion stage between the state leadership and C P Joshi, who is in-charge of party affairs in the state," senior Congress leader Manas Bhuniya said.
State Congress president Adhir Chowdhury, however, could not be contacted as his phone was switched off.
Bhuniya, who had recently met the Congress president, said he had requested Sonia Gandhi to see that the party's top leadership visit various districts of the state during the Lok Sabha election campaign.
"I had requested that apart from her and Rahulji, other important leaders of Congress should also visit the districts of Bengal during the campaign," he added.
