"If he is so concerned about the plight of farmers, let him initiate the process of waiver of loans in states where his party is still in power. We know that very few Congress-ruled states are left in the country. And precisely for this reason, it must not be a huge task for the Congress vice-president," UP BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya said.
"He knows his party cannot form a government in the state and hence he will never face a situation where people will be expecting him to fulfil his electoral promise", Maurya said.
The BJP state president also lashed out at the Samajwadi Party government in the state over the re-induction of tainted minister Gayatri Prajapati into the cabinet and claimed "the episode proves that Akhilesh Yadav is neither mazboot (strong) nor majboor (weighed down by political compulsions).
"He is simply the most 'asaphal' (ineffectual) Chief Minister UP has ever had and he and his family members, who control the ruling party, will be punished by the people of the state in the assembly polls," he said.
