Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ceasefire violations, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi today said that onslaught started a day after the Prime Minister assured the country that things were back to normalcy.
He also attacked Modi over incursions on the India-China border, alleging that the Prime Minister did not raise the issue with the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"During Lok Sabha campaign, Modi had said that Pakistan and China will be scared, if he becomes the Prime Minister. See what is happening. Firing is taking place on the borders and people are dying. Some days back, he said that things will become normal. Yesterday, he said it has stopped. Today it has again started," Gandhi said at an election rally here.
On the Chinese incursions, he said the Prime Minister did not raise the issue with the Chinese President during his visit here.
"Our Prime Minister was enjoying the swing ride with the Chinese President, but he (Modi) did not raise the issue with him. During the Chinese President's visit, the incursions were on," he said.
Recalling Modi's recent visit to the US, Gandhi alleged that the prices of 108 essential medicines had gone up and the developments in the pharmaceutical sector has benefited America, while hitting the poor in India hard.
"The UPA government had kept the prices of medicine under control. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to the US, the industrialists asked him to open up the price restriction.
"Now, medicines for diseases like cancer, diabetes and blood pressure have increased. The move has not affected the Prime Minister, but has hurt the poor man in India," he said.
