Union Textiles minister Smriti Irani on Saturday attacked Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi saying he won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections with the help of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and now he is playing 'Khat' politics just to show Congress has distanced itself with both of the parties.
Addressing an event at the premises of Jawahar Navoday Vidyalay Gauriganj, she said Rahul won the Lok Sabha elections with the help of SP MLA from Amethi and a former state mining minister.
He is now playing politics of 'Khat' to show that his party has distanced itself from the BSP and the SP but they have "good relations" to ensure his victory, she said.
Gandhi had defeated Irani in 2014 general elections from the Amethi Parliamentary constituency, which has five assembly segments — Amethi, Gauriganj, Tiloi and Jagdishpur (R) in Amethi district and Salon (R) in Raebareli.
