The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Department today raided several shops, hotels and hospitals here to check sale and use of adulterated food items and spurious drugs.
City Magistrate Kapil Kumar Singh, who headed one of the teams that carried out raids at Ramte Ram Road in the Old City, said samples of condiments have been taken from a shop, while that of edible oil were taken from a mill.
Raids were carried out at various hospitals, hotels and medical shops and samples were taken for testing, officials said.
The officials said the raids have been ordered by the state government in view of adulteration in food items and spurious drugs being sold in the market.
Today was the second day of the raids.
Yesterday, Commissioner Badal Chatterji and Deputy IGP D P Singh (posted with the department) had told the media that 45 samples were seized after raids at several outlets.
