Raids yield properties worth over Rs 6.83 cr with engineers

The Bihar police today carried out raids against three engineers and detected properties worth over Rs 6.83 crore disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the state police raided premises of Sanjay Kumar Singh, Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Samastipur and seized documents of properties worth Rs 3.49 crore, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Ravindra Kumar told reporters here.
During raids at his premises at Patna, Dehri and Aurangabad, papers related to purchase of flats, jewellery and vehicles were found, the ADG said.
In raids on premises of Executive Engineer, PHED, Begusarai, Pranvesh Singh, documents relating to movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 1.90 crore were found, he said.
Besides papers related to purchase of flats and houses, the search team found jewellery including 501 gram gold and 1.33 kg silver valued at over Rs 18 lakh, Kumar said.
In the third instance, in raids on premises of Junior Engineer, PHED, Chhapra Arvind Kumar was found to own properties worth Rs 1.44 crore. Documents relating to flats owned by him, cash, deposits in different banks and vehicles were seized, the ADG said.
