Rail connectivity of Palakkad div with TN districts soon

: Rail connectivity of Palakkad division of Southern Railways with southern districts of Tamil Nadu would be resumed with completion of gauge conversion work in Palakkad-Pollachi section by next month, a senior railway official said today.
This, in turn, would ensure easier access to Konkan Railway by people from the districts, Anand Prakash,Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad Division said while speaking at the first meeting of the newly constituted Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee of the division at Palakkad.
Prakash, who is also DRUCC Chairman, said infrastructural work in the Division is well in progress and all efforts are being made to imrove passenger amenities at railway stations, a press release from the PRO, Palakkad said.
The 19-member Committee comprises representatives from Chamber of Commerce, Agricultural, Industrial and Trade Organisations, Registered Passenger Associations, Association of physically challenged and other nominated members, it said.
Palakkad Division had already crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark in 2013-14 in gross earnings, Prakash said, adding that the Division breached this barrier once again in 2014-15 by recording a gross earning of Rs.1,060 crore by end of January this year, the release said quoting DRM's speech.
