Defending the Central government's move to hike rail tariff by 14.2 per cent, BJP Maharashtra President Devendra Fadnavis today said no one likes fare-hike but it was 'inevitable'.
"No one would like a fare-hike, but it was quite inevitable. Railways suffer losses of Rs 30 crore per day and to meet the losses, a hike was needed," Fadnavis told reporters here.
He also said that people should give the new government some time to see positive changes in the functioning of the railways in the country.
When asked about expectations for Mumbai in the upcoming budget, he said Mumbai will receive in abundance in Union budget.
On the indication of a possible change in Congress Chief Minister's position in the state, Fadnavis said, "Just by changing the face, Congress cannot escape from corruption and malpractices.
