Following concern raised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on train delays, Railways is closely monitoring the punctuality of trains, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha said today.
"The Prime Minister did not write any letter to Railways but had sought to know from Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and me about the situation regarding punctuality of running of trains during a conversation," Sinha told reporters.
Since the Prime Minister has a deep interest in Railways, people flood him with information regarding running of trains and on other issues, he said.
"We discussed the issue with our officials and are closely montoring the situation to ensure that trains run on time," Sinha said.
Trains under East Central Railway, particularly in Patna-Delhi route, run very late due to fog during winter. On many occasions, trains were cancelled due to regular late arrival and departure.
ECR is taking help of 'data logger', a system to monitor safety and punctuality of trains for timely running of trains, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), ECR, Arvind Kumar Rajak said.
The equipment is installed at many stations under ECR, he said.
