"It is a welcome step and will go a long way in infrastructure development in Odisha. Such joint venture companies will provide the necessary impetus for faster growth of railway network in various states including Odisha," Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said here after signing of the MoU.
He said railways has been playing a major role in national integration by connecting the remotest places and bringing people closer to each other.
The rail budget outlay for Odisha has been enhanced in the 2015-16. While in 2014-15, Odisha got Rs 1073 crore, it was Rs 3310 crore in 2015-16.
Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, Odisha Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi and many MPs from the state were present at the event.
