The Gujarat Congress today alleged that the BJP-ruled state government has not given any substantial monetary relief to farmers affected by flood-like situation in Amreli, Banaskantha and Patan district even after three months.
"Even after more than three months of flood like situation in the three districts of Amreli, Banaskantha and Patan, the state government has not given any monetary relief to the farmers whose crop were destroyed and lands were washed away," Gujarat Congress General Secretary Nishit Vyas said.
"Just some 20 to 25 per cent farmers have been given meagre amounts. All others farmers have not been given any relief so far," Vyas said.
The government should come out with a white paper on how many farmers were affected and how many of them have been given monetary relief, he demanded.
He further demanded that the government should declare, what was the amount they asked from the Centre for relief to flood-affected areas of the state and what was the actual relief given by the Centre to the state.
Apart from farmers, around 5,000 Small Scale Enterprise (SME) and MSME units were affected due to the heavy rains and flood like situation in the three affected districts but none of them have been given any financial assistance by the government, he alleged.
The Gujarat government had declared a package for the rain-affected farmers but it has not been implemented, he alleged.
