Rain and thundershower in several areas of Odisha

Rain and thundershower in several areas brought major relief from the sweltering heat in most parts of Odisha today by pushing the mercury down.
As the temperature fell substantially in many areas following overnight rains, the mercury breached the 40 degree Celsius mark in only two places.
In state capital Bhubaneswar the maximum temperature fell to 35 degree Celsius from 37.7 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, the MeT office here said.
Similarly, in neighbouring Cuttack city also the mercury fell to 35 degree Celsius from 36.6 degree Celsius measured yesterday, it said.
Angul town where the maximum temperature stood at 42.1 degree Celsius yesterday recorded 40.1 degree Celsius during the day.
Titlagarh which was the hottest place in the state yesterday recording 43 degree Celsius witnessed drop in the temperature as the mercury fell to 40 degree Celsius.
The temperature dropped to 39 degree Celsius in Balangir from 42.5 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.
Sunstroke has claimed three lives in the state this summer so far with the casualties reported from Bargarh, Angul and Balangir districts, the Special Relief Commissioner's office said.
