Heavy rains lashed parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal today as the Met department forecast rain or thundershowers in different parts of the state, signalling an end to the tortuous summer that lasted for more than three months.
The Cooch Behar District received 87.8 mm rainfall since yesterday, while the Darjeeling Hills received 19 mm, the Met department said.
Asansol and Bankura in Gangetic West Bengal received 21.6 mm and 9.6 mm rainfall respectively, they said.
In Kolkata, the maximum temperature stood at 34.8 degrees Celsius, but high humidity made it uncomfortable for the citizens of the metropolis.
The weatherman has predicted heavy rain in the next two days in the sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar.
In Gangetic West Bengal, the Met department has forecast possibility of rain or thundershower in the next two days.
