The Ganga, which was in spate at most places in UP, kept lowering its level although it was still flowing above the danger mark at Ghazipur and Ballia, the relief commissioner's office said in a report here.
In Ballia, the Ganga was flowing 1.595m and in Gazipur, .015m, above the red mark, the report said.
The river, on the other hand, had stopped rising at Bulandshahr and Farrukhabad and was declining at Kannauj, Rae Bareli, Kanpur, Allahabad, Mirzapur and Varanasi.
But the Ramganga at Moradabad, Yamuna at Baghpat, Etawah and Auraiya, Sharda at Lakhimpur Kheri, Ghaghra at Faizabad and Rapti at Balrampur and Gorakhpur were, however, rising, the relief commissioner's office added.
Local weather officials, meanwhile, said that light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers occurred at isolated places in the state with Najibabad recording 10mm.
The forecast is for rain and thundershowers at isolated places in eastern UP with the conditions likely to remain mainly dry in the western parts of the state.
