"There is possibility of rains on June 20 and June 21 because of western disturbances. Chances of light rains on June 21 are 40 to 50 per cent. Rains may also occur in the morning on that day," director of MeT department here, Surinder Pal, said today.
Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi said, "Whether rains come or not on June 21, International Yoga Day will be celebrated."
The district administration said foolproof arrangements are being made for celebration of International Yoga Day.
Tight security arrangements are being made for the event. Around 5,000 police personnel will be deployed to keep a vigil. Security officials have conducted search operations in various parts of the city and vehicles are also being checked at special nakas, officials said.
