The crime comedy-drama series will not move forward with a second season at Fox, it has been confirmed, reported Variety.
"Backstrom" showrunner Hart Hanson broke the news on Twitter, writing: "Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug."
The announcement of "Backstrom" cancellation came on the same day as Hanson's other series "Bones" earned a season 11 renewal from Fox.
"Backstrom" was based on a popular series of Swedish crime novels by Leif GW Persson.
"The Office" star Wilson made his television comeback in the Fox series as a cranky police detective who rarely stuck to the law in his investigations.
