Rains bring respite for Delhiites

Rains lashed the national capital today offering much-awaited respite to Delhiites from hot conditions even as humidity levels shot up.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose reading is considered as the official figure for the city, recorded the maximum temperature for the day at 38.6 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the minimum temperature settled at 30.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, a MeT department official said.
The Safdarjung weather station recorded a rainfall measuring 10.1 mm while observatories at Lodhi Road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 4.1 mm, 3.4 mm, 5.2 mm and 31.8 mm rainfall till 5.30 PM.
Humidity levels oscillated between 98 and 49 per cent.
As per a MeT forecast, it may rain during the night.
The MeT predicted partly overcast conditions along with the possibility of rains and thunderstorm for tomorrow.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. Rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur in many places while squall is likely in one or two places tomorrow," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.1 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature settled at 30 degrees Celsius.
