Rains continue in parts of UP, lightning kills 2

A man and his minor daughter were killed after being struck by lightning in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh as light to moderate rains or thundershowers continued at isolated places across the state since last evening, MeT officials said here today.
Khemchandra (30), his daughter Deepa (8) and son Surendra (10) were hit by lightning while they were standing under a tree to protect themselves from heavy rains at Paron village yesterday, police said.
While Khemchandra and Deepa died on the spot, Surendra was injured in the incident.
According to the MeT department, 3-cm rainfall was recorded in Misrikh, followed by Chillaghat and Nakur 2-cm each, and Barabanki, Gonda, Lucknow, Sitapur, Mahroni and Moradabad 1-cm each.

Rains or thundershowers would occur at a few places over east UP tomorrow, according to a forecast.
