The weather cleared after an hour, leaving the sky partially overcast.
The minimum temperature dipped to 12.2 degrees C while there was marginal fall in the maximum day temperature which stood at 23.0 degrees C, the Met department said.
Intense cold wave conditions prevailed in tribal and high mountain areas with the minimum temperature plummeting to 3.1 degrees C at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district, five degrees below normal.
Bhuntar and Solan recorded a low of 9 degrees C and 10.5 degrees C, three degrees below normal, while Sundernagar had a minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees C, four degrees below normal.
Dharamsala was the hottest during the night with a low of 17.6 degrees C followed by Mandi and Nahan, which recorded a low of 16.7 degrees C, three degrees below normal.
Una was hottest during the day with a maximum temperature of 33 degrees C while Sundernagar and Bhunter recorded a high of 30.4 and 29.7 degrees C, followed by Nahan at 28.4 degrees C, Dharamshala at 27.8 degrees C and Solan at 26.6 degrees C.
The MeT office has predicted dry weather across the state during the next 48 hours.
